What is Microsoft Word 2007?


Microsoft Word 2007 is a window-  based, user-friendly software that adequately facilitates many word processing activities, such as creating various documents, namely, brochures, letters, memos etc

Word processor is a;
(1) software that provides word processing functions on a computer.


(2) computer specialized for word processing. Until the late 1970s, word processors were always dedicated machines. Today, computers have replaced almost all dedicated word processors.

The various features of the Microsoft Word 2007 window


Toolbars- These are a set of icons grouped together according to their functions. There are two types of toolbars; Formatting Toolbar and Standard Toolbar.


Formatting Toolbar- Contains icons that are used to perform basic formatting features such as; bold, underline, etc


Standard toolbar- Contains icons that allow you to perform common tasks such as save, print, cut copy etc.


Control Menu icon-  this is a small icon which is located to the left most corner of the title bar. Its purpose is to control the entire Microsoft Word program through a pull down menu, whenever you click on it.


Title bar -  This is the first bar from the top of the screen, it displays, the control menu icon, and three buttons in the right hand corner. 

Menu Bar - Allows you to add different formatting and editing features to the word document; with the aid of the various tab features such as Insert, Home, Page Layout etc.

Status bar- this is located at the bottom of the widow, it usually displays the current page number, the amount of word that exist in entire the document and other features.

Vertical scroll bar- is located at the extreme left side of  Microsoft Word 2007 window.

Horizontal scroll bar- is located above the the status bar, the horizontal toolbar will usually appear when the window becomes much wider.
